Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra
Attributed to Maharshi ParasharaThe foundation of the Parashari system: houses, divisional charts, yogas and the Vimshottari dasha.
Parashari Jyotish · tested, not just told
Birth chart, divisional charts, dashas and transits are read together, as the classical authors intended, and every judgement is checked against the evidence of your own life.
The methodology
The classical texts describe a horoscope in layers, and their sutras often pull in different directions. A promise in the birth chart must be confirmed in the divisional charts, supported by planetary strength, opened by a dasha and triggered by a transit. Only when the layers agree does a judgement stand.
Exact sidereal positions, ascendant, houses and nakshatras, calculated to the minute of birth, including historical time-zone corrections that many tools miss.
The Navamsa for marriage and inner strength, the Dashamsa for career. What the birth chart promises must be confirmed here before it is relied on.
Dignity, combustion and the functional nature each planet takes on for your ascendant. Yogas are identified with their cancellations, so a combination is never read in isolation.
Vimshottari periods, sub-periods and sub-sub-periods decide when a promise can open. A strong yoga stays dormant until its period arrives.
Slow-moving planets, above all Jupiter and Saturn, activate what the dasha has made possible and help narrow a window to months.
Where sutras disagree, they are weighed by the priorities the texts themselves set out: lordship over natural character, confirmation across charts, strength over mere placement.
Then, the test
Before anything is forecast, the combined reading is checked against four to six dated events from your own life. Only the judgements that hold on your past are carried forward into your future, and the report shows which ones they are.
Sources
Every sutra is traced to its text, chapter and verse, so the ancient wisdom behind a reading can be checked, not taken on trust.

From the Sutras
Early results, graded by how consistently each sutra holds. Next in testing: marriage and relationship sutras.

How this compares
Each has its place. Here is what this approach does differently.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Precise calculation | Yes | Usually | May estimate positions rather than calculate them | Yes, checked against reference software |
| Tested on your past first | No | Rarely | Only if you know to ask | Every report |
| Rules cited to the classical texts | Rarely | Varies by astrologer | Citations can be invented | Text, chapter and verse |

A capable chatbot can do much of this if you know exactly what to ask and can spot its errors. A LotusAstro report is designed to do it every time, with the calculations verified and the reasoning shown.
